The Tha Kha Floating Market probably appears more authentic because it is visited by fewer tourists than its famous neighbour (up to 5,000 foreign tourists visit Damnoen Saduak a day!). As a result it is less built up, has a more natural surrounding and avoids some of the more commercial aspects of Damnoen Saduak (souvenir shops, etc.). The Tha Kha Floating Market takes place only 6 days a month and in accordance with the Thai lunar calendar.
Details: Tha Kha Floating Market is located 10 kilometres beyond the more famous Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. The best time to visit is around 07:00 in the morning. The market opens only at weekends between 06:00 and 12:00.
How to get there: Again, given the distance involved, a taxi is recommended and the total fare is likely to be around the 500 Baht (plus) mark for a return journey.
Take a bus to Samut Songkhram from the Southern Bus Terminal. From Samut Songkhram take a minibus to the market.
